December 12, 2008, Newsletter Issue #122: Panic Buttons For Business Owners

Tip of the Week

Security systems are important in protecting your home, but they are equally important as a small business owner. Armed robberies of small businesses can put you at the end of a gun looking at someone who may or may not be willing to pull the trigger.

This is where security panic buttons pay off big time. By having one placed near a cash register or safe, really any target a robber would focus on and force you to open, you may have the opportunity to notify the police without the robber ever knowing.

From 2006 to early 2008, there were three police officers shot by armed robbers in Philadelphia, PA. These criminals were stopped in their cars after leaving the scene of the robbery. Emergency panic buttons can notify the police much sooner and give them a chance to surprise the robbers rather than the other way around.

It is important to remember that you should not try and fight with robbers. If you are able to, activate the panic button for your security system and let the police do the rest of the work.

By activating a panic alarm both you, other employees and the police have a better chance of foiling the robbers' plans and not getting hurt in the process.
