Medical panic buttons, like any other of your home security systems or electronics, need to be properly cared for. Do not put them in places where the button might be depressed accidentally. This includes cluttered purses, backpacks, leaving them in the pocket of a pair of pants in your laundry bin, etc.
Unlike the alarms on your doors and windows, the monitoring company does not call you to verify that there is a real emergency. To save time, and possibly lives, the local authorities are immediately dispatched. False alarms due to a simple accidental push of the button can be embarrassing and cause many problems.
Protect America's security panic buttons are water resistant, but they are not completely waterproof. Do not let the device get submerged or exposed to large amounts of water. If the panic button is damaged from water or physical contact, call your security company right away to receive a replacement as quickly as possible.
It is also essential to make sure that the device's battery is always in working order. If the battery gets low it has to be taken care of immediately, otherwise the device may not work when you need it most: in the middle of a medical emergency.
