What do crime statsistics show about burglary?

Burglar Alarms Protect Family And Finance

Protecting your home with a burglar alarm provides a sense of security and safety for you and the entire family. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, burglary offenses increased by 1.3 percent from 2005 to 2006 (official 2007 crime statistics have not been released). This may not seem like a big number, but it translates to an increase of 29,620 offenses, bringing the country's total to just over 2.1 million.

These numbers include both metropolitan and suburban areas, so even if you live in a small town home safety should always be a priority. Of the total offenses reported, 66.2 percent were of residences like apartment buildings and houses.

Home burglary does not just pose a threat of financial loss, but of the peace of mind that your family enjoys. You may have homeowner's insurance for decades in case of fire or theft. Even if nothing ever happens you still continue to maintain that insurance so that all your bases are covered. Just because your home has never been broken into does not mean it can't or that you shouldn't take the proper steps to prevent it.

There are crime statistics and the safety of your family; both very good reasons to protect your home with a burglar alarm.
